                                                                 RAIN STOPS PLAY
Sadly, all day rain is forecast for Saturday and it means postponing the picnic to late summer

The Wolfe Vets dog show will be held from 11.30 to 12.30. It is always very popular, with prizes for the prettiest dog, the fluffiest dog, the noisiest dog, and, of course, the dog that ignores all its owner's instructions. Everyone can enter, and there will be lots of prizes and probably a bit of chaos.

The live band is booked from 12:30 to 5 o'clock, and they will play everything from old favourites to today's music.

The funfair will be open from 11.30, and the bouncy castle and roundabouts will, of course, be very popular with children of all ages.

Randall's, our fantastic local butcher, will be running the BBQ with their delicious hamburgers and BBQ sausages, along with all the extras.

Plus, of course, cakes, ice cream in dozens of flavours, and much more. Please keep coming back to this page for more information.
                                            ...............................................................

Last year, the Friends of South Park Picnic in the Park was a great success. On a sunny and warm Sunday in June 2024, hundreds of people came to South Park in Fulham to enjoy the day. Mums and Dads with children of all ages, groups of local friends just hanging out in the park, couples sauntering in the sunshine, and many dog walkers.

Picnics were set out on the lawn, lines queued in the park for wonderful burgers from Randalls in Wandsworth Bridge Road, and others queued for ice cream in dozens of flavours and freshly brewed tea.

The funfair was a great attraction. The bouncy castle, the fantasy slide, and the magic roundabout were busy all day, with long queues until the close.

The band played all afternoon, offering a broad selection of music from the 1950s to today.

The Pétanque Competition, courtesy of Kenrick’s Merchant in Wandsworth Bridge Road, was superb. It was in French and very serious. pétanque balls clicked. Discussions were had about the gravel, and the tape measures were out in full.

The dog show, courtesy of Wolfe Vets in Wandsworth Bridge Road, was a spectacular success, with far too many dogs to count. The dogs and their owners enjoyed the noise and the atmosphere created by dogs playing together and ignoring their owners’ instructions. Lots of prizes were won in categories including the prettiest, the fluffiest, the tallest, the smallest, and lots more.

Our very well-known prize giver on the day was Ben Coleman from H&F Council and now our MP for Chelsea and Fulham. Ben went home covered in dog hair, dog nose marks on his suit lots of new canine friends and contact with dozens of residents who wanted to say hello.

The Friends of South Park raffle stand was very popular, and winners went home with everything from cuddly toys to champagne and some of Fiona's wonderful plants.

The volunteer team from The Friends of South Park put many hours into organising the event. On the day, they were in the park from early morning, setting up the stands, helping at the funfair, and answering a multitude of questions. At the end of the day, it was the volunteer team from the Friends of South Park returning the chairs and tables to the Community Centre and, of course, spending ages litter picking and dustbin emptying.
